German NCO Sanitäter POW Remagen grouping
Original German POW Remagen set.
Josef Mühlemeyer was born on January 18, 1897 in Ratingen (Germany). He was Unteroffizier Sanitäter.
The following information might be not 100% correct:
On April 30, 1943 billeted at Düsseldorf air base, from June 1 to June 3, 1943 in camp Düsseldorf. From June 11 to 12 air attack on Linselles, June 13 Jagdstaffel Mülheim. From June 13 to July 20 training and exercises, leave from July 20 to August 5. After his leave flight over Paris and back (Date unknown) September 13 reporting in Duisburg and September 18 together with Flakmarine Düsseldorf. March 16, 1945 left for Normandy, here he was probably captured by the Allies. In his POW camp in Rheinberg (part of Remagen POW camp) he made the walking stick and he helped the American forces with surgeries and other medical things.
